The conference will feature a range of high profile speakers from across the globe who will discuss the latest developments in health informatics. A major exhibition will run alongside the conference which will benefit from the expertise of The Guardian’s previous Smart Healthcare Live exhibitions.
Matthew Swindells, Chair of BCS Health says; “As the Chartered Institute for IT, we are delighted to join with The Guardian to bring these two leading health events together to make the definitive event for the healthcare IT and information industry. Health informatics plays a vital role in our healthcare system and HC2012 is the perfect platform for the profession to demonstrate this and showcase best practice and innovation, investment and value."
Charlotte Gooch, Director of Events at Guardian News & Media adds: "The Guardian is delighted to support this new venture by way of a unique partnership with the Chartered Institute for IT to produce the number one event in this market place. This new project is a natural extension of The Guardian and the Institute’s relationship. HC2012 is vital to both organisations’ desire to demonstrate the enormous value that IT brings to our society today.”
The event has already gained support from several key organisations including the National Centre for Clinical Excellence (NICE), the Information Centre for Health and Social Care, and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).
Sir Andrew Dillon, Chief Executive, The National Centre for Clinical Excellence says: "NICE welcomes collaborative working with the BCS, The Chartered Institute of IT and its annual health informatics congress (HC2012). The effective implementation and adoption of NICE guidelines and quality standards is clearly dependent on information use, and well managed information flows within and across the health and social care sectors. We welcome this opportunity to address these critical issues on a national stage, and are pleased to work with the Institute doing so at the event in May 2012."
Tim Straughan, Chief Executive, The NHS Information Centre, added: “The Information Centre for Health and Social Care is delighted to be once again working in collaboration with the Chartered Institute for IT in producing this important annual event. Delivering safe, effective and high quality healthcare is becoming more and more dependent on the right use of information and information systems across health and social care organisations. The Health Informatics Congress provides an exceedingly valuable opportunity to bring informatics professionals and suppliers together to demonstrate best practice and share learning in a positive and progressive fashion. We are pleased to be a part of the planning for the event.”
Stephen McGowan, Head of Operations, ICT Team, UK Trade & Investment, says: “UKTI is pleased to be working with the Institute again on the plans for HC2012. We are building on the international elements of the event again for next year, and look forward to working with the Institute in fashioning another creative, innovative and valued event for 2012.”
